Mule Deer

Our lodge is only a half mile from the boundary of the West Elk Wilderness, just a short ATV or horse back ride away. Unit 54 was recently recognized by several organizations to be one of the premier Big Game Units in the state for trophy Mule Deer. The West Elk Wilderness, just north of our lodge, was also home to the new world record Mule Deer taken in the 2005 archery season.

This is a draw unit so you need to have your applications in by the first of April to the Colorado Division of Wildlife. The hunting in this area is well worth the extra effort of the draw process so don’t let that discourage you from applying. Please feel free to give us a call when you’re ready, we can help with the application process.

All hunts are 5 day hunts with one day of travel on each end to get you to and from the lodge.

2007 Season Dates

	Muzz	September 8 thru September 16
	1st rifle	Oct 13 thru Oct 17
	2nd rifle	Oct 20 thru Oct 28
	3rd rifle	Nov 3 thru Nov 7
	4th rifle	Nov 14 thru Nov 18

All hunts are five day hunts starting on the first day of season. You will arrive at the lodge the day before season and depart the morning of the seventh day.  Combo hunts are available upon request for an additional charge.
